ILLEGAL WIRING TO SECURITY CAMERAS MAY HAVE CAUSED DEADLY ACCIDENT
FRESNO, CALIFORNIA (October 5, 2017) – A 12-year-old boy was killed in a tragic accident after being shocked by an electric fence during a baseball game at the Villa Margaritas Apartments in Fresno.
Fresno police have been able to identify the 12-year-old boy that was electrocuted while playing baseball as Adrian Antunez Perez. Authorities are saying that Adrian Antunez Perez died on Monday at the Community Regional Medical Center.
Emergency medical workers rushed to the scene of the accident and transported Adrian Antunez Perez to the hospital in critical condition. Tragically, he died several days later. Paramedics are saying that they found him in between a cinder-block wall and a chain link fence.
The apartments where the fatal electric shock accident took place are located at 1235 N. Recreation Ave., near Olive and Chestnut avenues.
Adrian Perez was apparently attempting to retrieve a ball that that went between the wall and the electrified chain link fence. An investigation into the accident indicates a wire came into contact with that fence that killed the young boy.
Police are saying that they came across an illegal wiring system to power surveillance cameras. The electric wires did not have a permit nor were they inspected. Police officers were also electrocuted as they were trying to rescue Adrian.
Adrian Perez was was described as a wonderful, energetic and smart student that went to the Scandinavian Middle School in Fresno. A candlelight vigil was held at the Villa Margaritas Apartments in commemoration of the young boys life.
