Avrek Law Firm’s Managing Partner, Maryam Parman Featured in OC Metro Magazine Top Attorneys

OC Metrotop-attorneys-magazine-spread magazine recently featured one of Avrek Law Firm’s most significant cases. While investigating a hit and run car accident resulting in the serious traumatic brain injury of a 4 year old boy, Maryam Parman discovered that the driver only carried $15,000 in coverage on his auto insurance policy which would not be enough to pay for the child’s medical needs. While visiting the scene of the accident Maryam discovered posted signs discouraging children from playing inside the complex which is a violation of the Fair Housing Act. She contacted the condo complex’s insurance company and obtained $5 million for the child and his family.

Ms. Parman says the case represents one of her firm’s most significant accomplishments. “This shows how we think outside of the box on these catastrophic injury cases.”

About a week after Robert Soria graduated with Patriot High School’s Class of 2014, he climbed into the back seat of a friend’s Ford pickup truck. He woke up 18 hours later in a hospital.

Avrek DriveSafe ScholarshipSoria and four other friends were injured in a crash not far from Soria’s home on June 1. The teen driver, Soria’s best friend of three years, died after she turned momentarily to talk to a backseat passenger, lost control of the truck, crossed a center divider and slammed into a tree. Now Soria, 18, is on a mission to prevent such a crash from happening again. He is participating as a judge in Avrek Law Office’s DriveSafe Scholarship Program. The goal of the contest, sponsored by the law firm, is to promote awareness of the dangers of distracted driving.

“I think that it would greatly help society because I see people on a daily basis either eating a sandwich or texting,” Soria said. “I will roll down the window and tell them to get off the phone.”

The contest gives students a chance to earn a scholarship up of to $5,000 by creating a creative contest entry. It could be a sketch, a public service announcement or even a song that conveys a message about the risks of distracted driving. The deadline is Dec. 31. The public will pick the top 10 entries, and then the judges will narrow those down to the scholarship winners.
